The warlord Karroth pulled on his dragonskin gloves and sheathed his sword with an impatient snap. “Come on, you guys! Jeez, what’s taking everyone so long?”
“Hold your horses,” said Moriah, the curls of her long, dark tresses falling around her chainmail bikini. “We’re waiting for the others.”
“Who else is in?”
“We’ve got a couple of new guys, Cioffi and Levitt.”
Karroth snickered. “What the hell kind of player names are those?”
“Oh you know. Newbies. Anyway, they’re from a zone called the Stern Bear and the Stone Tower.”
Karroth brightened. “That’s pretty cool. Hey, here they come.”
Two men in business suits, ties flying, trotted up awkwardly on their steeds. Moriah and Karroth looked at each other and had to look away to keep from laughing.
“Hey,” one called. “You guys ready to collateralize some debt obligations?”
“Uh…” said Karroth.
“You know, CDOs.”
Again the warlord and the princess looked at one another.
“Crazed Depraved Ogres?” Karroth guessed
“Crowned Defenders of Ooze?” Moriah suggested hopefully.
“Cornered Desperate … Otters?” Karroth’s voice trailed off.
Cioffi and Levitt looked at each other and rolled their eyes. One spurred his horse forward; Karroth took a stab and guessed Cioffi.
“We are a specialty finance holding company that provides our shareholders with returns derived primarily from our structured finance subsidiaries, commonly known as collateralized debt obligations issuers, or CDOs. Relying on the structured finance expertise of our managers, our objective is to create, structure and own CDOs and other structured finance assets that will provide attractive risk-adjusted returns to us and our shareholders.”
Levitt raised his sword high in the air! “Heigh-ho, IPO!”
The two galloped off precariously into the sunset. The two warriors gave a war cry and galloped after them. After all, they could always flip their shares later.
